In 1998 we purchased a ski in/ski out lot in Steamboat Springs and were determined to realize our dream of building a log home. After considerable research, we selected Montana Log Homes of Colorado to achieve our goal. We retained Montana Log Homes of Colorado to achieve our goal. We retained Montana Log Homes of Colorado because of his terrific reputation for outstanding workmanship and quality materials. They recommended a local architectural firm, Jakes Drafting to finalize our plans for a true custom log home. We could not be more pleased with the result. Since we live in Wisconsin, we only visited the site on sever occasions during construction and had complete confidence that we would be pleased with the result. We were not disappointed. Montana Log Homes take great pride in their craftsmanship and the professionalism and extra friendliness was very much appreciated.
If you are considering a log home, I highly recommend Montana Log Homes of Colorado. We would be happy to have you visit and tour our home at any time.
Sincerel,
Paul M. Berge

RE: Montana Log Homes of Colorado

Dear Mr. Ruben W. Dinkel:
It gives my wife and me great pleasure to write a letter of confidence and referral for Montana Log Homes along with the Doug Smith.
We first met Montana Log Homes of Colorado people approximately five years ago to see about moving forward with our dream of building a log home in the mountains of Colorado. As he showed me other clients Log homes they had finished over the years each and ever homeowner were fully satisfied and treated him like a true friend. All the homes were beautiful some commented to me how Montana Log Homes is always there for them as the years go by whether it's for adjusting the logs, warranty items, maintenance or new additions. That Doug had never let them down. Although I was really impressed with all of this I still was not sold and proceeded to check out four other log home-builders quality and pricing. There was not on that came close to what they offered us.
Time went by as we proceeded with our plans with 100% involvement and effort from Montana Log Homes of Colorado throughout the next year. As this planning stage continued I also realized how complex and hard it would be to build so far away (we live in Florida) that I had to have the best company possible for our house. By the time our plans were complete, it was certain that we had the right guys for the job with great character, knowledge, integrity and expertise. Everything was in order, now we just had to figure out how to pay for it. (That's another story).
Our house is now three and a half years old. Montana Log Homes has helped us maintain it, adjusted logs three times, has backed up and fixed everything as needed promptly and fairly. We have added second closets and other items and everything had been completed to look like it was always there, not an after thought. They continue to be there for us in a way that is truly remarkable in this day and era.
Gabby has been instrumental with the interior of our house helping us out with all the furnishings, tile, carpet, Granite etc. At no charge I might add. This is what kind of people and company Montana Log Homes are.
It's five years later our friendship and respect for each other is stronger than ever and our dream of building a log home could not have come out any better. We rate them Triple "A" business and personally.
If there are any specific questions that I may not have addressed please feel free to call me on my cell 954-410-2149
Sincerely,

We purchased our beautiful lot in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and spent almost a year interviewing builders and looking at their homes before choosing Montana Log Homes of Colorado. We chose them due to the beauty, uniqueness and the quality of workmanship in the homes we looked at.
Montana Log Homes and crew started our log home with the arrival of our logs on September 10, 1996. What and exciting time . We had been planning this for several years.
During most of the construction, we were at our other home in Satellite Beach, Florida. We had such confidence in Montana Log Homes team that we made only one other trip to Steamboat during construction of our home. It was so obvious to us that crew was not only capable of building a beautiful home, but that he really honestly cares about what he builds. It seems to us that it is like a work of art to him. If he saw that something didn't look right he offered suggestions on how to improve it. If there was a question of how to do something specific, he would overnight us a video.
Our completion date was January 31,1997. We moved in February 7th. They also built our home within the budget we agreed upon
After completion, there is always a lot of little things that need to be done. Instead of leaving us hanging, he had one of his employees come every day for a week to finish up the little things plus special things like a log bench in the mud room and a log planter. That meant a lot to us.
We have nothing but good to say about our experience in building our home. We feel very lucky and we owe it all to Montana Log Homes and of course great employees. We strongly recommend Montana Log Homes of Colorado to anyone considering building a log home. Please feel free to call us for any reason.

Thank you and your crew for the beautiful home that you built for me. The house was much more that I ever thought it would be. Over the last year I have had a lot of friends that have come to visit, and they all were amazed at the beauty of a log home.
I would recommend to anyone that wants a quality log home to consider Montana Log Home before any other. Thank you once again, and I wish you much luck in the future. |

It has been two years since we moved into our Montana Log Home here in Steamboat. Of all the many homes we have lived in over the years, this has truly been the most enjoyable. It is very comfortable and cozy. As you are aware, we are moving to Arizona and the new owners are very thrilled to have found a Montana Log Home of such quality. While the property was on the market, we had many real estate agents and their customers who were very impressed with our Montana Log Home. The professional inspector, hired by the new owners, was also impressed; he said that it was the best log home he had inspected and gave the highest rating possible in his report.
It was a great pleasure to have worked (in the capacity of gofer) along side you and your crew during construction from excavating, foundation work, erection of the log structure and roof panels, and final finishing of interior details and trim. It was an experience in which I learned a lot and on that will remain high light. As our general contractor, you were very professional and capable in keeping our project on track. We appreciate your efforts in finding ways to reduce costs. At all times, we felt confident that you were working in our interests. Your handpicked crew of Rick Russo, Doug smith, Joe McPherson and Pat Lichenstein were the best. On a daily basis they each strove for perfection. We couldn't have asked for more that that!
We believe it is important to note that we have had very few problems due to the settling of the logs. Most importantly, of the few minor ones that we did experience, you were prompt in correcting them. The Montana Log system which allows for the settling of the log structure without adversely affecting doors, windows, and interior dry walls does work. We would highly recommend a Montana Log Home to anyone who is considering building a log home. Furthermore, they would be fortunate to have you and your able crew working their project.

I have been asked by Montana Log Homes to provide a reference letter regarding my experience with him concerning the construction of my log home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
My wife and I purchased our land in 1988. During the summer of 1990, we first began to consider building on our land. While visiting our premises in August, 1990, we noticed that a new log home was going up on a lot nearby. Since we were interested in constructing a log home we drove to that job site. It was at that time that we first met Montana Log Homes Team. They gave us a tour of the home he was building at that time for Gabrielle Seide. We could see that the work was first rate. The logs were much larger than any I had ever seen before, and looked excellent.
I think on of the greatest concerns of anyone about to build long distance is finding a builder who will be fair and honest and keep your interests foremost. During the fall of 1990, we proceeded with having plans drawn up and we had a driveway put in in order that it could weather for one winter. Within a short time, I found that I could count on him. Whatever they told me or recommended to me, I could count on team being accurate.
Needless to say, my anxiety over building long distance was greatly lessened.
I will never forget the first time my wife and I walked into the house after the construction began. We were unable to be there when the logs arrived an were erected. At the time we next visited the house, the roof was on, the ceiling paneling had been installed, the interior walls had been framed, the decks had been built and they were beginning to install the windows an do the trim work. When my wife and I walked in, We simply stood there in awe. The result was so much more beautiful than anything we ever anticipated , and we were anticipating good things. In fact, each time we make a trip to the house even now, upon first entering it, we both stand in the entry way an take a long look.
We closed on the house in mid-October, 1991. Since that time, Montana Log Homes has been prompt to take care of any minor problems that have occurred There has been nothing out of the ordinary, but, as with any new house, there are always some additional items to follow up on once construction is complete.
In short, if you want someone who will build you a very beautiful log home, plus treat you honestly and fairly, then Montana Log Homes is your company.
Should you have any questions or wish to discuss my experience with Montana Log Homes any further. Please feel free to call me at my residence

Thank you so much for our wonderful home. We are thrilled with how it turned out and hope to spend many wonderful years enjoying it. We feel most of our thanks should go to Montana Log Homes, your Montana Log Home Representative in Colorado.
We first met Montana Log Homes team eight years ago when we purchased some land in Steamboat. Several companies wanted to build our home but we liked the manner in which Montana Log Homes team dealt with us. Sales team was very patient with us as we saved money to drill a well, carve our road, clear away trees, etc. We never felt pushed by Sales team to hurry up and build so he could go on to another project. As we stated above , we have been planning our home for eight years and Montana Log Homes has stuck with us all the way. When we went into town to secure our loan, the bank had no problem helping us when they heard Montana Log Homes was involved in the project.
This summer we finally started building process and finished well before the snow hit. Doug made sure each step in our home was correct and the work they contracted out was nicely done. Doug has always treated us with respect and never made us feel our home was any less important than the million dollar homes he is building now. It is no wonder Doug's Business has taken off the way it has.
We feel lucky to have chosen Montana Log Homes for our builders and very fortunate indeed to have Doug as our contractor.

Our vacation home outside of Steamboat Springs is a Montana Log Home built for us by Doug. We heartily recommend Montana Log Homes and especially Gabe and his crew for the outstanding job they did on our home.
The house is beautiful - much nicer than we imagined it would be. It was a difficult house to build because the roof contained several valleys and an octagonal area. It was also several miles out of town, and required the construction of a driveway 1/3 mile long. Because it is a vacation home, we were often not available to make decisions. Doug did a wonderful job of sparing us many decisions, while consulting us on the important ones where our input was necessary. His suggestions about finish items helped add to the beauty of our home. He coordinated all of the site details (well, electric, permits, etc.) in addition to building the home. He was always available for our questions and responsive to our concerns. He also kept us informed as to costs on a regular basis.
In addition, Doug has continued to be available after the majority of the construction work was done, and has acted as a liaison for everything from propane and wood suppliers to finding us a housecleaning service. He continues to periodically "let down" the house as is necessary with log homes.
Most important, Doug really knows how to build a log home. The house is tight and the craftsmanship is excellent. The logs are beautiful, with handpeeling to provide for lots of character. The people on his crew and the subs he uses are all uniformly outstanding. So often when you are building, he house will be fine except for one or two things - the drywall might not be quite right, or the electric plan not quite adequate. This is not the case with the home Doug has built for us.
We recommend Montana Log Homes to anyone considering building a log home.
